An import dashboard should answer one question quickly: what needs attention now? The best dashboards are not overloaded with charts. They summarize the small set of indicators that helps a logistics team prioritize work.
1. Active shipments
Show the number of shipments that are not yet completed. This gives context to every other KPI and helps identify whether the operational workload is growing.
2. Arrivals in the next 7 days
A rolling seven-day arrival view helps teams prepare documentation, customs tasks, delivery appointments and warehouse capacity.
3. Overdue ETA
Flag shipments whose ETA has passed but whose status has not been updated to arrived or completed. This is a useful data-quality and operations check.
4. ETA changes
Count shipments where the current ETA differs from the original or previous ETA. You can also calculate delay days to distinguish minor schedule movement from material changes.
5. Documents pending
Show the number of active shipments with one or more required documents still pending. This links physical tracking with document readiness.
6. High-priority shipments
A simple priority field lets you isolate shipments with customer urgency, inspection risk, production dependency or other operational importance.
7. Shipment status distribution
Summarize how many operations are Pending departure, In transit, Arrival soon, Customs, Delivery pending or Completed. This gives a quick view of where the workload is concentrated.
8. Last update age
Track how long it has been since each shipment was last reviewed. A shipment with a current ETA but no review for ten days can still represent a visibility risk.
Keep the source table simple
Dashboard quality depends on consistent source data. Use one row per shipment and standardized status values. Avoid manually typing several versions of the same status because that breaks counts and filters.
The ImportVista Shipment & Import Tracker includes a dashboard designed around ETA, ETD, status, priorities and active operations.
Use the dashboard to drive actions
A KPI should lead to a decision. If arrivals in the next seven days increase, review documentation and delivery capacity. If overdue ETAs increase, refresh tracking data. If pending documents increase, assign owners and deadlines.
